Thats right, those that know me know that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Carbs! In fact I just bought a shirt with a noodle and a block of cheese on it that states "Soul Mates" that's how much I love carbs. I love Mac and Cheese, I love Spaghetti, I LOVE LOVE Bread! and anything carbs. Especially bagels and Juice too.
So I heard back from the Midwife today after calling them and didn't get news that I wanted to hear.
Here were my results:
Fasting #: 84
1 Hour #: 167
2 Hour #: 171
3 Hour #: 164
You are supposed to be under 180 after the first hour, which I was, but then after the 2nd hour you are supposed to be under 155 (which obviously I wasn't) and then after the 3 hour I am supposed to be below 140, which it wasn't.
So I will be now pricking my finger (or arm depending on the monitor) for the next 11 or so weeks and trying to control my blood sugar by diet. So having to cut back on a lot of what I love and will just have to find new foods that I like :)
I am waiting to hear from the Dietitian, but I have to figure out if she is covered by insurance, if she isn't I will have to meet with someone knew. The receptionist said that sometimes you can see the OB's and MW's and deliver through Ridgeview, but not a dietitian, so not sure what's up with that, so hopefully she is covered.

Making food changes is hard but you sound excited so that's awesome! I recently did a similar thing and have been really motivated by my weekly CSA delivery. I get a box of fruits and vegetables delivered to my door step every week and have no choice but to prepare and eat them. I discovered that cooking is actually really easy! If you're interested, here's a list of CSAs in your area: http://www.landstewardshipproject.org/csa.html Good luck!
Sorry you failed Jess, but maybe this is an opportunity for a good change overall! Even if you don't meet with a dietitian for awhile, there are a few things you could do that will help right away.
1. Stop drinking anything but water (and milk if you like it). We spend way too much of our "sugar calories" on drinks in America.
2. Stop eating packaged foods (like cutting out corn syrup is a GREAT way to control this--there's a lot of evidence corn syrup is one of the WORST things for you out there.
3. Eat salads for lunch. As often as possible.
4. Eat more fruit and less artificial sugars.
If you follow those simple rules, I bet you'll see a big change. Especially the corn syrup thing. Good luck!
Thanks Ladies! I am doing much better about this than I was last week. I did really good this weekend. Mike and I ate more vegetables & fruits this weekend. My highest level was a 130.
We aren't cutting out all packaged foods, but we have been slowly doing that before this anyway. and I have been trying to cut out the High Fructose Corn Syrup and have now decided to cut out pop for the rest of the pregnancy - even though I LOVE LOVE LOVE a good Dr. Pepper. ;)
