Diapers

So I know I have blogged before about using G-Diapers and I was super excited to register for them and use them. Especially after seeing them in person from our friends (Thanks Kim & Brian).....that was at least until we starting visiting day care centers and was told that they most likely will not be able to be used....Even if they are not the typical cloth diaper they still aren't allowed in most places. We still are going to check it out and bring an example (Thanks again to Kim & Brian) in when we narrow down to our final 2 choices to see, but so far it's been a pretty adamant no. But we are still going to ask.

So in the mean time I am on the hunt for another diaper. So far there seems to be a few - at least Chlorine free diapers, which would be better than nothing. Those that are BTDT (Been There Done That) Mom's or Dads can you tell me what you used?

Why not use cloth at home and disposables at daycare? Would daycares be more likely to use a Bum Genius or another AIO diaper that they could just throw in the wetbag to send home with you? I'd have to say although I LOVE my g's the hybrid diapers seem to be more work than other cloth diapers out there.

Thats one possibility, been then I was thinking when we have babysitters and stuff and grandparents would they use them?? Unfortuntely the reason the day care centers don't use the cloth diapers isn't because of the folding, pinning or whatever, it's because of the sanitation of it all. They don't want to be putting the dirties into a bag. and actually the state doesn't allow it. It's against code. so unless we go with an in-home then we are pretty much having to use disposables.

I did find a few types, seven generation & Natures Baby that are a lot more natural and much more like cloth and cheaper, so we might just go that route.

Gotcha. My parents both use them with no problems, my husbands parents were a little more leary. We have to travel to Virginia to see them so when we go we just bring disposables for the trip. I think when my MIL is here after the baby is born I'm going to work on getting her comfy with the cloth so next time we can travel with the g's. I didn't start with cloth until the boys were 4 months old- it's something that you can jump into after any amount of time really. Did you ever look into the classes My Sweet Pickles has on cloth? She might have some good ideas.

I would still use the g-diapers at home--if you were planning on babysitters using them before (you found out the centers wouldn't) why would that change anything?

And really, how many evenings and weekends would you be using a babysitter? Once a week at MOST, I would think, so even if you had some disposables for them to use that still works out to you using g-diapers most of the time.

Thanks Ladies! We found 3 places that will take G-Diapers and use them and the more we talked the more we decided to just keep them.

Adrienne - The reason I was thinking of not using them if the daycares didn't was because of the expense and investment. but now that two of the places on the top of our list will use them we are good :)
