Let the Demolitian Begin!

For the past few years Mike and I have been planning on remodeling our house. We love the area, we love neighborhood, the school district and all of that. But the house just wasn't really fitting our needs. Our hope is to have 2 children and we want to have all the bedrooms on the same floor. Our current layout only has two bedrooms upstairs and one large bedroom downstairs.

The past 7 months we have been working with the designer and contractors to figure out 1. if we can afford to do the change and 2. what order makes the best sense to do it in. We can't do everything at once, nor do I think I would want to - way too much mess. So we are breaking it up into two phases.

Phase 1

Push out the front entry way
Add two bedrooms over the garage
Re-do the upstairs bathroom (We need to to make room for the hallway going to the bedrooms)
Replace the Garage Door (which decided to break on us in April)
New siding on the front of the house to match the existing.
New furnace and air conditioner
New Roof

Phase 2
Replace the existing windows
Turn the two existing bedrooms (The current master and Gabby's room) into a master suite with a bathroom and walk in closets. Add my favorite part - which is the window seat :)
Replace the siding
Turn the sunroom into the family room and take down a few walls.

This is our current front entry. In order to get to our Garage we have to walk out the front door and outside.

Well the demo has started, it's messy but we are super excited about the process. The excavators were supposed to be here a few days ago, but they got delayed and will be here tomorrow or Friday! I can't wait to see what they do to the front yard. Monday/Tuesday they will be laying the block foundation for the new entry and the crawl space that we are adding. I will post more pictures as the process goes along. but here is what is happened so far.

The Tile floor taken up in the upstairs bathroom. In 1978 they didn't use cement board, so we had 3/4" of concrete to break up.

Always use the right tool! Thanks to some friends of ours, Mike was able to use this power tool to take up the floor. Worked really slick, although it created a lot of dust (the picture is not blurry)
