Sickness, Rain and Sunshine

Another Manic Mommy Monday Post - Check out The Gnomes Mom who is hosting this blog hop

Who could ask for a better vacation....Every year we go up to our timeshare for a week with my husbands family. 2 years ago we bought our own timeshare next to my IL's and it's so great that we have our own place - 8 people (6 adults and 2 kids) in one cabin just wouldn't cut it.

Saturday we got up there and I visited with some friends and then realized that Gabby felt warm....So I took her temp and sure enough she had a 101 almost 102 temp. I couldn't believe it. Sunday, still had the temp, Monday morning she woke up with a 99 degree temp (like she had on Sunday) and she had some spots on her feet and hands, but only like 4. We figured it was Hand Foot and Mouth disease since there was a case at daycare the Thursday before we left. We called the nurse and she told us what to do. Luckily we didn't have to bring her in for it (since the ER is all that is covered for us up there) and her fever broke monday afternoon, Tuesday morning.
Tuesday I woke up though with pink eye. I swear pink eye is never leaving this house. Gabby had it last year when we were on this vacation and I put breast milk in her eyes and it took it away but I ended up getting it on the way home. This year we battled it in April and have been since Memorial weekend. I am throwing all my makeup because it's the only thing I can think of where I got it. Since Gabby and Mike both don't have it. However up where we were there are no minute clinics and I sure as heck wasn't going to urgent care for pink eye. So I called my MW's office as a last resort and since I am pregnant and they are treating me they decided to send up a script to the local pharmacy! Thank you thank you thank you!!! I love that office. So hopefully soon it will be gone. I have been trying to be so careful to finally get rid of this.
Overall though we had an awesome time!! We got to swim at the beach. Mike went kayaking with his parents around the bay - we didn't bring ours up, so we will have to do that next year so he can kayak farther than just the bay. Gabby played on the beach, in the pools, went down the water slide. The guys and my MIL went golfing. I even got out once for golf. We went mini golfing and out on a pontoon ride. Grilled a few times, ate outside, played outside and took some walks. Overall it was a great time. I am glad to be home but sad to be done for another year.

Here are some pictures from our time up there

Best Wishes

Gabby has really bonded with her teachers at daycare (as have I). One of them is leaving to move on to a different chapter in her life. When I found this out I was excited for her, but super sad that she was leaving. She is in the EPS1 classroom that Gabby will be going to sometime this summer and I was looking forward to her teaching Gabby on a day to day basis. So I wanted to give her a great going away present. My craftiness actually took hold and I was able to get something pulled together.

Here is it:

Mrs. L if you are reading this, we are really going to miss you, we wish you the best of luck in your new town! You were a wonderful teacher and Gabby enjoyed seeing your smiling face every morning. She still talks about E all the time!

Manic Mommy Monday - Recharge

Here is another installment of Manic Mommy Monday from The Gnomes Mom.

Manic Mommy Monday!
This weekend my WONDERFUL husband was kind enough to take over the parenting duties so that I could spend part of the weekend with my best friend Jenny. I spent Friday night with my baby girl and the hubby, dinner, bath time and off to bed. Then I loaded up the car and headed to my friends house - she only lives about a 1/2 hour away, but it was far enough to be a "Getaway weekend".  I was planning on being gone until Sunday morning.

When I got to my friends house we made a run to target for junk food, breakfast and of course we checked out the clothes! I thought I had a dress, but it did not look good on me at all. I am still on the hunt for a fun sun dress that I can wear to a wedding in September (7 months pregnant).

When we got back with our junk food we started up Twilight. She and her roommate LOVE these movies and I had never seen them or read the books....The first one wasn't bad. I actually stayed up past my bedtime and was up until midnight. Can you even believe that??

Saturday we had breakfast and then headed out for a walk. She lives right next to a HUGE park, so we took a walk and it was so nice. We wanted to make sure we got out before it go too hot since it was going to be 90 degrees this day. Well to curb the heat, her roommate, my friend and I stayed inside most of the day and watched all the rest of the Twilight movies (2 to 4). We took a break to get movie #4. but it was awesome. I am now hooked ;) After making a lovely dinner and another walk we sat down and watched The Kings Speech. Another great movie.

I have never in over 2 years sat all day and did nothing. Never just watched movies, I was unplugged all weekend and it felt wonderful.

I came home to a loving husband (who I appreciate even more so now) and my beautiful little girl. Even the dog was happy to see me. I was recharged and ready to take on Battle Nap Time with the Gabby Girl!  We had a great day together, went grocery shopping after our 1.5 hour nap and then the Hubby and I made pizza. Gabby even ate the banana peppers and the mushrooms. I couldn't believe it.

Such a great end to a great weekend and I really want to thank my husband for it. No matter how often he annoys me (which isn't that much), it's so nice to have a loving husband who is willing to spend time with his daughter so his wife can re-charge. Thanks hun! I love you!!

Boy or Girl

So I am about 17 weeks now and that means we are getting close to the gender reveal Ultrasound around 20 or 21 depending on when I get it scheduled (Which I will do on Monday).  But since it's getting close I thought I would put a poll to see if people think Pineapple is going to be a girl or a boy.

So cast your vote to the right there! And I will reveal it in a few weeks.

Nursing on Demand

This week the topic for the Breastfeeding blog hop hosted by The Slacker Mom is about how often do you nurse.

This definitely changed for me as we moved along in our nursing journey. This was also a frustrating part for me. The nurse told me at the hospital to nurse every 2 hours and for 15 minutes on each side. Well let me tell you this little girl had other ideas....so I picked up the nursing on demand really quick. I kept making myself sick for making sure she was nursing for 15 minutes on each side, but she didn't want that, she only wanted 5 to 10 minutes and then an hour later would nurse again.

We found out this was most likely because of my over supply. But she was always an efficient nurser. WE went a few growth spurts where she would nurse for 15 to 20 minutes and then be done for 40, and then we would repeat. I think she was like 3 or 4 weeks and we did this for about 5 days. It went from noon until about 6pm every day for a week. I got a lot of TV watching and Facebook time during this stint.

As she got older though we were more on a schedule. I still did on demand, but she made up her own schedule. Once when she would wake up, then sometimes before we would head off to daycare. SHe would get bottle fed a few times there and then I would feed her when I got home, then once before bed. She would then nurse about 3 to 5 times a night depending on her age.

It wasn't until after she was 18 months that I stopped the On Demand nursing (Sort of). We were starting weaning at this point and so I put a few more boundaries on it. Not nursing in public - especially if she tried to lift my shirt (she was a sneaky girl). Eventually we got down to once at night and once in the morning. By 21 months she was weaned.

For Baby #2 I definitely plan to let them take the lead again. It's helpful to know that they can do that and tell me when they are hungry, to stop when they are full and just go with the flow. I Have a feeling the first couple of weeks won't be nearly as hard because I will have better knowledge of what to expect, a better support system and just the knowledge that I just let it go and it will be fine.
