TC 1 Mile

Well it's been over a week, but I did it! I ran the Twin Cities Medtronic 1 Mile. I know you are thinking it's just a mile, but those that know me know that I do not like to run. I have never been a runner, never liked it but I worked my butt off and was able to run it.

I want to thank my friend Jenny for giving me the inspiration to do it and for going wiht me. I wouldn't have done it myself. We had an AWESOME time! It was hard, but so much fun.

The week before the race I ran a mile straight a few times, I was running about a 12 to 13 minute mile. It seemed super slow, and it is, I hope to increase that by this fall when I do my 5K and run more of a 10 minute mile, but we will see what happens.

The week of the race I ran on Monday & Wednesday 1 mile outside (I usually run better on the treadmill, but I knew I had to practice it outside).

That Thursday Jenny and I arrived at the race, it was bitterly cold! I am talking cold - 52 degrees cold. For May in Minnesota it was still cold. It was also windy. We both had planned to run not wearing our sweatshirts. But that is what we ended up doing. We did realy well we finished in about 12 minutes and 37 seconds.

We are so excited to do it next year! I can't wait! I am so glad that I followed through and finished something I started.

Imagination

At the dinner table tonight, Gabby, Mike and I had a great time imagining things. We were eating dinner and all of a sudden Gabby looks up at the ceiling, throws her hands in the air and says there is a Red Bear on the ceiling. I laughed and Mike said he didn't see anything.

I followed this with a "I see it Gabby, there is a purple snake next to it too". She goes there is, and it's moving over there! and points farther down the dinner table.

The next ten minutes was the three of us laughing and imagining all these different colored animals - a cow on our heads, a purple snake, red bear, green dog and a host of other friends. Even fish that jumped into Gabbys Milk and Mike's mouth. There was a racoon on the top of Liv's car seat, so even she got to play.

It was one of the most fun times I have had with Gabby - as usually our conversations like this happen when she is on the toilet.

2 Kids, Who Knew

Who knew having two kids would be so much more work than just one. I mean I wasn't naive by any stretch, I knew it would be more work, but sometimes it's just dang hard.

The Epp household has survived a rough few weeks kid wise. Two weeks ago I was having my first Thirty-One party and Gabby came down with a 102 fever while she was at my folks. This fever lasted until Monday night, so she couldn't go to daycare. Thanks to wonderful parents who watched her while we worked we saved some sick time.  This was a rough few nights of not sleeping, since Gabby was waking up a few times during the night.

During this time our little Livvy Pie decided that it would be a GREAT idea to nurse 3 to 4 times a night. I am trying to take it as a compliment that she wanted to spend extra time with her mama. And I just have to say it's a good thing she is cute or I might have eaten her - I know now why babies are made cute, it's so their parents don't eat their young.

Fast forward to the following Friday and as Mike and I are trying to close a deal on our new furnace I get a call from Liv's school saying that she has a gunky eye. Mind you when the case of pink eye was reported on the door I freaked and started putting breast milk in her eye - I should have kept doing it more often because apparently she got pink eye. Off to the doctor we went, $160 bucks later I was home with a script but she said that it wasn't pink eye, probably just a cold. That night she was still had a pretty bad gunky eye, so we decided to fill the script and give her the drops.

We started a schedule of her eating at daycare every 2 hours, while I think this fills up her belly I don't think it really had helped her sleep through the night more, I think it was just a 5 month sleep regression or wanting to spend time with me. So I think we are going to go back to on demand and see what happens. 20oz is just a lot of milk for her to eat in one day for the 9.5  hours she is at daycare.

Back to my original point of 2 kids. It just seems that they both are sick or not sleeping at the same time, which means everyone is not sleeping. I moved Liv back into our room because I was just so exhausted from going upstairs. I am not sure when I will move her back up to her crib but we will just play it by ear. Hopefully before she is 18.

It has Been Awhile

I know I have been completely MIA from my blog. There is no excuse..except that we have been SUPER busy people. So here is an update on this Working Mama and her Family

Big Cuddlebug - Gabby: She is 2.5 and this coming weekend we are taking the diapers away! Can you believe that. How did my Big Cuddlebug get so big. She is super excited about this new venture in her life and I have to admit so am I. She does really well telling us when - just the other day at the grocery store she told me she had to go and we went to the bathroom and she did good. She can even hold herself up on the big toilets without a potty seat. I just have to make sure she understands when you do that you don't touch your face - especially your mouth. ICK

She is loving School and having a great time. She is naming her months, numbers, colors and starting to recognize different letters and numbers. She is learning a TON Of Spanish, soon I am going to have to learn it myself with her. We are going to either sign her up for swimming this spring or gymnastics. Need to start getting her into a sport or something to burn off her energy.

She is just getting over her latest ear infection. We are hoping it will be the last for the season and not run into any other sickness. it's been a bad year and fingers crossed no more colds for awhile.

Little Cuddlebug - Olivia:She is getting so big. I also call her my chunky monkey, I know I shouldn't but I just love her little rolls she has. She is going through a growth spurt and I am having to send more milk with her to daycare, this week she went from 12 oz a day to drinking 16oz a day sometimes more.

She is wearing the same clothes Gabby was but 3 months ahead of when Gabby was. Again I know I shouldn't compare our little ones, but that's human nature. She is a lot like her sister, but her own little person as well. it's fun seeing her personality shine through. Her teachers love her smiles all day long!

She is talking a TON to us, smiling a lot and she started laughing. She is also starting to try to roll over. No leaving her where she could fall off the couch or something anymore. We now have to lock her into her bouncy chair with the straps because I am afraid she will fall out.

Working Dad:He is continuing his venture of his software program Reliable Race Results (Search for it on FB if you are interested in finding out more about it). I am super proud of him with this business venture. It's a great program that has helped out a lot of schools/conferences for ski racing results and is saving them a ton of time and money.

Working Mama:I am also starting a new business venture and have signed up to be a Thirty-One Consultant (contact me if you would like more information on Thirty-One). My starter kit is coming tomorrow and I am super excited about getting the pink box on my door step and opening all my fun bags and things! I love bags and organization, so it's a perfect fit for me!! So excited to earn a little extra cash, get out of the house by myself (have some mama time, as we all know we need that in life), and become a more confident person and mama and gain some leadership skills.

Working Mama's & Dad's House: As many of you know our house was remodeled this past year and we had a bit of a snag. We got our judgement from our lawsuit and are applying to the State's Recovery Fund to get some cash back so we can pay back the sub-contractors that we still owe. We are hoping this spring to finish up the house - get the front door completed, the siding, trim & drywall, then paint etc. We are also hoping to replace the furnace, AC & the Hot Water heater. The furnace is the original to the house (30 some years) and we really don't know how much longer the thing has left in it's life.

I am hoping I will find time to update more often....
