Tuesday's Unwrapped - Eating

You know if it's not one thing it's another. The past few weeks have been a struggle - not with sleep (we finally mastered that one, see next week's Tuesday's Unwrapped post) but with food/eating.

A month ago her favorite foods were Peas, Apples, Bananas, Cheerios, Avocado, Meatballs, Ground Vension, Grouse & Chicken. Ohhhh how much has changed in a month. She still LOVES Cheerios, Bananas and Apples, but only apples if they are the whole apple and shared with Daddy, not if they are sliced up and on her tray.

She refuses peas, chicken, meatballs and pretty much any meat. Avocado is hit or miss with her. She is however starting to really tell us what she wants and how she wants it. She reaches for her high chair, she points to bread (if she can see it), or to utensils etc. If she wants it in a bowl she tells you so, if you take it away she makes it aware that she wants it back. She signs "all done" when she is finished.

She is starting to refuse pretty much anything I give her except for bananas, cheerios and bread. All things that keep her a bit bound up. The poor thing had a lot of trouble with that over the weekend (the prunes worked wonders today).  I can't get her to drink apple juice to help keep her regular...so needless to say it's been a struggle.

We are trying some new things, she actually ate eggs tonight. I picked up some actual prunes (not purees) for her to try, some oranges, and also we are trying raisins. I am going to work on giving her plenty to choose from so she can start getting the different textures. Tomorrow morning we are going to try oatmeal. It's getting a bit easier now that she is eating with utensils and can feed herself. All you lurkers out there and non-lurkers any tips or recipes you have for foods please send them my way. Thanks in Advance

*new follower* :-)

Presley is 10 months. Cheerios are her fav. too.

We are working on trying lots of new things. She is quickly not letting me feed her purrees anymore. She's gotten a taste of real food and feeding herself and she likes it much better.

I make her muffins. She loves those. I read on a blog today about a delicious egg dish I think P would love. You can use whatever ingredients you want. http://www.iloveyoumorethancarrots.com/2011/10/delicious-muffin-tin-breakfast.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ILoveYouMoreThanCarrots+%28I+Love+You+More+Than+Carrots%29

She isn't quite as old as your little one so right now anything we let her do herself she is happy to try. She loves frozen blueberries, cherries, strawberries. take the out of the freezer (a couple servings) let them thaw. And those are a huge hit!

Good luck!

It could be bananas, bread, and cheerios are what she needs right now. I wouldn't worry too much, but just keep giving her the options.

Evan definitely goes through phases. A couple months ago, all he would eat was fruit, and now he's big on breads/carbs. It all evens out over time though :)

Jess, do you have Annabel Karmel's First Meals cookbook? If not, would you like to borrow it? There are lots of good options in there and ideas for food choices by age.
