Ants go marching
Does your little one have a favorite song or lullaby that helps them fall asleep or do you have one from your childhood. I don’t know how it started, but my husband and I started singing the Ants Go Marching Song for Gabby and it seems to really put her to sleep when she is really fussy.
The ants go marching 1 by 1 – Hurray Hurray, The ants go marching 1 by 1 – Hurray Hurray.
The ants go marching 1 by 1 the little one stops to suck his thumb and they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain.

The ants go marching 2 by 2 – Hurray Hurray, The ants go marching 2 by 2 – Hurray Hurray.
The ants go marching 2 by 2 the little one stops to tie his shoe and they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain.

Whenever I am trying to get her to sleep or even in the car this song always seems to help her out. I rub her back and sing the song in a soft tone (or louder if she is crying) and it calms her down pretty quick. It’s amazing what one song can do.
My favorite one is 7:
The ants go marching 7 by 7 – Hurray Hurray, The ants go marching 7 by 7 – Hurray Hurray.
The ants go marching 7 by 7 the little one stops to say hello to Great-Grandma and Grandpa’s in heaven and they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain.

Hopefully she will remember this when she gets older.

Keep singing to her! I remember one day when I sang 'The Itsy Bitsy Spider' to S. for the umpteenth time, she began to do the spider motions! And just the other night, I was singing 'I'm a Little Teapot' and she put her hands on her hips for the handle! We think it's just going in one ear and out the other, but they are learning something. :-)
How funny...the ant song is the same one that always put our first son to sleep! I think it was the rhythm that got him. We also choose a lullaby for each of our children. We are still trying to pick one for Baby #3.
