This is what they are looking for:
Biophysical Attribute | Normal | Abnormal |
Breathing | 1 breathing episode within 30 minutes | No breathing episodes within 30 minutes |
Movement | 2 or more movements within 30 minutes | less than 2 movements within 30 minutes |
Muscle Tone | 1 or more episodes of active extension/flexion of limbs, etc. (i.e. opening and closing a hand). | Slow extension/flexion of limbs, partially open fetal hand, etc |
Heart Rate | 2 or more episodes of reactive heart rate acceleration within 20 min | 1 or more episodes of unreactive heart rate acceleration |
Amniotic Fluid | 1 or more adequate pockets of fluid | Either no pockets or inadequate pockets of fluid |
In our test the only one that she didn't pass was the last one with the Amniotic fluid. She had the others done in like 10 minutes, but my fluid was measuring around 5.11 when I was there. it needs to be around a 7. one of my pockets there was almost no fluid at all.
So when I went to meet with my Midwife, she checked my cervix to see how things were going, but she wanted to have another ultrasound to check her measurements and the fluid level again. I still haven't progressed really anything more than last Thursday - which doesn't surprise me as I have felt only a little different. Her head is a little more farther down, but not much and my dilation isn't much at all.
I had the other ultrasound and my fluid was actually even lower at a 4.56, so it didn't change anything, she still wanted me to come in tonight and be induced.
So Mike and I will be heading to the hospital tonight around 6ish and will be admitted. They are going to give me a ripening gel to ripen my cervix and get things going. She said that sometimes that can be enough and no pitocin is needed. if it's not, then tomorrow morning we will be starting the pitocin drip. Luckily she is on call tonight and will be there for me, which will be nice!
So tomorrow most likely we will be holding our little one! I am so excited and nervous at the same time, but I know it will go fine!!
I will update when I can!
