This past weekend we had our first Rainie's Bug Fundraiser. I know I have had it on here before, but every Mother's day, my mom, my aunts, some of my cousins and friends walk in the Race for the Cure Mothers Day walk. We have been doing this for the past 7 years. It's a whole lot of fun and means a TON to me. I lost my Grandmother Lorraine (Rainie Bug) to breast cancer about 30 years ago. She was a wonderful woman.I really wish that I could have gotten to know her. I know that she would LOVE Gabby, and Gabby would have such a great time with her Great Grandmother. Mike and I named Gabby after her - her middle name - Lorraine. It's like having a piece of Grandma with me all the time. I don't remember her, just the memories that my mom and my aunts have told me. But she is who we walk for every year. If there had been a cure back then she would still be with us. We raise money to help find a cure so that other families don't have to go through what we have to gone through.
Friday was a really good day. It was sunny, and warm - we had a ton of people stop by and got about 200 and some dollars and 50 dollars in donations. Saturday it rained and sleeted! Juli, Shelly, Mike and I all had fun, but we were cold. Gabby was outside with us too - we just bundled her up. Sunday was even worse, it was super cold. My Aunt Kelley came over to help, and we ended up closing up shop around 11 or so. It wasn't worth sitting outside for $20.00 - which was from both Kelley & I ;)
